Typical components for injection of narrow fissures min 0.5mm, max 10mm
Depth between 20 and 120mm

Material requirement:

1. 2-part solvent free translucent thixotropic epoxy adhesive
2. suitable mechanical syringe, min 50cc volumn glass barrel
3. 2mm outside diameter injection needles.
4. wooden toothpicks or similar (not plastic)
5. a set of feeler gauges 0.25mm to 5mm

Method:

1. Survey the fissures in natural timber or the fissures between laminates in glulam timber. Measure the width and depth and make a record.
2. In the case of glulam where there is previous cohesive or adhesive failure as it is necessary to remove the damaged adhesive with a thin bladed jigsaw or ideally with the use of a Fein vibratory cutter.
3. Vacuum all fissures thoroughly.
4. Drill 2.5mm Ø holes at centres suitable to the depth of fissures measured, eg. for a 60mm deep fissure the hole depth will be 30mm. The centres of the holes to be 1.5 times the depth of the fissure.
5. Vacuum all dust
6. Load injection gun (syringe) with CB10T SS
7. Inject pre-drilled holes sequentially with adhesive until excess adhesive appears at the adjacent hole.
8. Insert toothpicks sequentially as each hole is filled.
9. Leave to cure 2 to 3 days.
10. Sand and stain as necessary

Vertical holes drilled at 50mm centres into 1mm wide fissures in solid timber or in preparation for injection.
